College Visit / Dallas Baptist University

The next stop on our tour was Dallas Baptist University.  I have several students who have chosen to attend DBU, but I have never had the opportunity to spend time on campus until now. I had no idea what I had been missing!

Emily was excited to meet the volleyball coach and go on a tour. We were ready for another adventure on our tour!

From the moment you enter campus, you can tell that there is something different about this place. From the moment you enter campus, you can tell that there is something different about this place.

Our tour guide, Cassidy couldn’t have been any cuter or more knowledgeable about DBU.  She shared her personal perspective and the things she loves about being a student there.  I didn’t feel like she was trying to sell us anything, but rather that she wanted to let us in on a great secret that we hadn’t known about before.  I really appreciated the way she had so much school pride and shared unique things about the school that I wouldn’t have known otherwise.  She told us the many options available for classes.  You can take traditional classes or online courses or a hybrid of both and even finish a semester in a week during school breaks.  WOW!  So many great options for students.

The welcome center is in honor of Tom Landry.  He was a wonderful man who supported the school with his Gifts, Time, Prayer and Wisdom.  You can see his fingerprints all over it!  His wife is still very involved with the school and the DBU choir sang at Tom Landry’s funeral.  I have such admiration and fond memories of Tom Landry.

The school overlooks a beautiful lake and is nestled in beautiful hills.  A peaceful refuge in the midst of a large city.  Simply Beautiful!

Just when we thought our tour couldn’t get any better, we had a meeting with the Volleyball Coach.  She was genuine and approachable.  She represented DBU and what is stands for in such a respectable way.  She made Emily feel so comfortable and inspired her to work hard and be her best, not only on the court but in life.

It was the perfect ending to a perfect tour and we felt like we had just found a rare treasure that we never knew existed!

If you haven’t visited this campus, I highly recommend that you do so!
