The Truth About Scholarships
Hi! I wanted to take a moment to thank you for being a member of the Imagine Family.
I’ve poured my heart and soul into every aspect of this business and it means a lot to have your support. I love consulting students and families in the college admissions process as well as helping students be successful in college but perhaps most rewarding is helping students and families afford the rising costs of college. In fact, I’ve gotten the process down to an art and can help all students and all families with finding money for school. As the mom of 1 in medical school, 2 in college and 1 in high school, scholarships are critical to the success of my own family. It’s not just a business to me, it’s personal. It is how my family helps pay for their educational choices.
People collect lots of creative things. I collect scholarships 🙂 Nothing excites me more than to add a new scholarship to the database I built to help students and families pay for college. Currently I have collected about 10,000 scholarships that are for all students of every economic, academic and social situation.
I’ve also built several resources for students and families to help them be successful in both finding money for college as well as helping them reach the goals and dreams they have.
Take a look at how these resources can help you. They are for high school students, college students, parents and schools. Some of them are free while some of them are an investment in your future. All are valuable.
Don’t forget, if you ever have questions, I’m only an email away.
10 Truths About Scholarships:
-
Scholarships are for EVERYONE ! Many people believe they or their parents make too much money for them to qualify for scholarships. This is simply not true. I see it everyday. Students whose families make well over six figures are still getting scholarships. By the same token, many students who are first generation or whose families do not have financial resources saved for college have many opportunities to earn scholarships to help pay for educational expenses.
-
You don’t have to be an academic genius to win scholarships ! Yes, it is true that students with academic success win scholarships but so do the students whose grades aren’t as high but those who are willing to work very hard. In fact, if you are interested in a specific field, have been in the service or have a family member who has who will likely qualify for a scholarship. In addition, if you have a specific skill or talent or are committed to applying to 3-5 scholarships per week, you will likely win scholarships to help you pay for school.

Scholarships are for high school students and college students. Scholarships are for anyone who wants help paying for college. There are specific scholarships for everyone who wants to attend college. There are even some scholarships for students who want to get an early start and start applying in middle school. Many people decide to go back to school after many years, there are scholarships for everyone !
-
Small scholarships can equal big wins ! Many times students overlook the smaller scholarships assuming that they will barely make a dent in their educational costs. These scholarships can add up quickly and some of them are renewable, meaning that you can win them each year that you are in college.
-
Winning scholarships doesn’t have to be difficult ! I did a survey and found that out of 500 students, 62% said they didn’t apply to scholarships because they didn’t know where to look and 30% said the process was too overwhelming. I wanted to eliminate these obstacles from all students. In doing so, I built a scholarship database with quality scholarships.

Finding Scholarships is a marathon, not a sprint. Finding scholarships doesn’t usually happen overnight, it takes time. The good news is, if you are consistent in applying on a regular basis and are using our organized database, you will be successful. We recommend that students apply to 3-5 scholarships per week. By doing this, you will have applied to around 200 scholarships in one year. This greatly increases your odds of success. Continuing to apply to scholarships all through college will allow you to have the possibility of paying for school each year.
-
Scholarships are often cyclical. Many scholarships are cyclical. This means, many scholarships are offered yearly. Once you win the scholarship, you will likely be offered the opportunity to renew it for the next year.
-
Apply Smarter, Not Harder. Some people offer scholarships just for their own marketing purposes to gather students information. That isn’t how we work. We try to only include quality scholarships in my database that are legitimate and scholarships that are genuinely designed to help families with money for college. Be sure you are spending your time on the right scholarships. The bigger the scholarship, the more effort it will require.
-
Scholarships are all around you. In addition to our database, you should be looking around your environment. Scholarships are everywhere. In fact, chances are that the places you are already supporting are offering scholarships. Places like your local coffee shop, church, work out facility, bank, grocery store, etc….. are all places that are likely to offer scholarships. If they see you supporting their business frequently, they might be eager to give their scholarship to you.
