Students – A gift for your parents (or significant person) at graduation time

While I know it is always fun to think about the wonderful gifts that you could receive at graduation time, I want you to know that it is almost as great to GIVE great gifts as it is to receive them.

The gift that I’m going to share with you today is something that you can do for any special person in your life and you can begin at any time. High school freshmen through college seniors can benefit from this unique idea that I’ve shared with many students over the years.

Ready to hear about this special gift that you can give? It’s simple, heartfelt and free. What could be better?

Here are the details of this unique gift that you can give to someone special in your life. It’s a great way to say thank you to a parent or someone who has been supportive of your education.

  1. Open a new email account. You can even title it something clever.
  2. Create a password and username. Be sure to put those things in a safe place so you won’t forget.
  3. Start sending emails to this email address. These emails should be a “journal” of important days of yours. These can be notes to your parents, thanking them for coming to your events, or all the meals they’ve made for you. You can share special days events in these emails. These emails that you send will be the “gift” you give to your parents when you graduate. When they are missing you, they can enjoy reading the memories and words of gratitude you sent to them over the years or months.
  4. On graduation day, write the email address, username and password on a sheet of paper and put in a small box.

While it might seem super simple, this gift will be appreciated more than any gift you can purchase because the gift is your words and gratitude and the memories you’ve shared.
